Carpentersville is divided by the Fox River and with expansion on the west side of town and had an ever growing need for additional street maintenance facilities. The Village had previously received land through a dedication from a developer, but wanted a facility that was more harmonious to the adjacent residential area. The Public Works department worked with neighboring residents and decided on a barn style facility. The facility provides the Village with a storage capacity of nearly 1,000 tons and was equipped with additional architectural features such as trimmed faux windows with shutters and cupolas with weather vanes.
Trotter and Associates prepared final engineering and aided in securing Motor Fuel Tax funds for the Village of Carpentersville to construct a barn style salt storage facility. The site included not only the grading for the proposed structure but also roadway and stormwater detention improvements that aid in the collection and filtration of stormwater. The project was completed at 2.6% under the awarded bid price.
