In 2003, the Village of Mundelein televised the sanitary sewer main, along the east side of Illinois Route 45 between Edgar Poe Lane and Longfellow Lane. Television inspection of the sewer was completed after a resident complained of a sanitary sewer backup. This inspection revealed an eight inch diameter clay sewer main that was in very poor condition. The pipe had several areas of broken pipe, collapsed lateral connections and slipped pipe joints.
Trotter and Associates, Inc. completed survey, design and construction related engineering tasks necessary to bid and construct this portion of sanitary sewer within Illinois Route 45. The project was designed and scheduled to minimize the disturbance to traffic on the state highway while providing the residents with uninterrupted sanitary sewer service.
Even though third party underground utilities were not correctly marked, Trotter and Associates’ engineers worked with the Village to provide a project acceptable to both parties. Therefore the project was constructed on time and under budget.
